From Trond: 3 Infantry, 1 Militia, and 1 Artillery Brigades are to head north, just west of the city of Kirkenes. They are to set up trenches (which will be defined in the link below.) and barbed wire. The barbed wire will be placed all along the plain infront of the mountain ranges, within range of machine guns. (The road from Kirkenes to cities to the west is used upon a well-kept road that goes over and in the mountains. The mountains surround the plain, going south and east, on the Norweigen - Swedish border. You can see this in the map. The mountains are not generally well defined.) Two of the infantry brigades are to station themselves in the trenches with the militia brigade (symbolized as the BLUE line), while the remaining infantry brigade will spread out ON the mountains to the south of the trench (symbolized as the PURPLE line). They are not to go over the mountains, or they will trespass on Swedish ground. They are to position themselves so they can see everything the trench troops can, with orders NOT to open fire until the bulk of an enemy force has shown itself, where upon they will then use machine gun and supporting fire to fire into the middle of a charging force. They will not show themselves otherwise. If it seems the 2 Infantry and Militia have it under control, then they do not open fire. They are a suprise force that will be used to hit forces unsuspectingly. The artillery brigade (symbolized as the RED CIRCLE) will be positioned in the mountains behind the trenches. They are to bombard any troops who are oncoming as soon as they know their general positions. They will be aimed at the plains infront of the trenches.

Special Orders: If they are to be overrun and cannot stop troops, then all brigades are to retreat double-time to the orange line shown in the map. After the retreat has been issued, the Infantry and Militia brigades are to hurry behind the artillery - where upon the artillery will fire upon the massive mountain passes covered with snow, upon which they will stop the single pass in that sect of the mountains that heads west into Norway's mainland. Fire ahead and above only - no avalanche, rocks, or so on should hit the soldiers retreating. Stragglers are urged to surrender, but heroes are defined by their actions, no matter the circumstances. The blue square is the general area where the pass comes out of the mountains - once all units are passed, they are to blow that up, as well. Mobility is the essence of this - troops are to be fed well but scarcely. They are to carry only what they can but keep a good pace. Automobiles that can be used WILL be used.

This will be the summer of Norway, a very nice, green time. Summers in Norway consist of about 4 months. But by Q4, it'll begin to get darker - because for half the year, it is dark so far up in Norway. It'll become colder, but will not begin to snow unless it rains. Snowing does not really start until mid-December, begining of January. They'll have several months to set up the defenses - but as soon as those defenses are set, they're also to begin preparing for winter. All nearby villages are to begin stockpiling food in massive amounts, as well as any medicines and the like. Sled-dogs will be the primary use of transportation of these goods, but horse-drawn carriages, (Scandanavian horses are not fast or large beasts, but they're sturdy and are used STILL in modern times for this!) and the few automobiles that can make the trek in winterare to be used. This will ship supplies to the lines in the cover of darkness, using torches to lead the way. While the infantry brigades dig trenches, the militia brigade is to begin to set up the creation of huts that can house ten men in each. There will be a fireplace, MANDATORY, in each house, as well as a window in each direction. There are to be bunk-beds, wooden floors and doors with a stone chimney. If electricity can be added, do so. This lumber will be provided from the Trading Post, which will only be sending lumber to the countries trading to it. All excess lumber is to be sent for this operation. They will be provided with two heavy blankets of any make to each soldier, as well as towels. Torches are to be lit between the houses, as well as along the trench-line, and as well as outside of each house.

Two Infantry brigades from Fyn and two Infantry Brigades from Jutland are to move to station in the Copenhagen military base. Three Infantry Brigades from Copenhagen are to move to the military base in Oslo, and two Infantry Brigades from Oslo will move to the military baes in Trondheim.

Those soldiers moving to Trondheim will have a week's rest and will then begin marching to the North-East border with Sweden and Russia where troops are currently setting up defenses. They will join the defenses, with one brigade joining in the trenches, and one brigade joining the Mountaineers (purple line). If they're not there by the time of mid-fall, they are to quickly rush and go in outlying villages and cities, and wait there. They are not to all wait in a single village or city, but spread out and report back in Q2 when the spring comes, where upon they will quickly continue marching to where they were to report.
